English is not as complicated of a language as some people may think, but there are some potentially "weird" rules that everyone might not remember from school. I'll start off with some spelling and grammar tips.
Spelling tips
" I before E except after C"
Alot of people know about this rule. What some people might not know, is that this rule only applies when the sound represented is "ee". It doesn't apply to words like efficient or science, in which the "ie" combination does follow the letter C, but doesn't produce the "ee" sound. It also doesn't work with any word that doesn't have the "ee" sound, even when there is no C involved.

Here's a point where the English language does get weird, because there are exceptions- weird, caffeine, seize to name a few. There are more but you just have to do trial and error with those and check with a dictionary until you learn them all.
